Badaber camp attack planned, controlled from Afghanistan: DG-ISPR

RAWALPINDI: Director-General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG-ISPR), Major-General Asim Saleem Bajwa, said that militant attack on Badaber camp was planned and controlled from Afghanistan and the attackers were continuously in contact with mastermind in the neighbouring country.

Military troops made befitting response against the coward attack and stopped advancement of the militants wanted to move forward inside the base camp, Asim Saleem Bajwa said in a press conference.

Terrorists used two gates and distributed into two groups while entering the premises at 5:00am early morning but strong retaliation failed their plans, he added. DG-ISPR said that personnel of Quick Response Force (QRF) had reached within 10 minutes and commandos arrived at the scene within 30 minutes to stop advancements of the militants.

Bajwa confirmed that 16 people were martyred in the mosque and seven persons embraced martyrdom in barracks. However, all terrorists who entered the premises of the base camp were contained and killed during the response attack. He said that the attackers were affiliated with a faction of banned militant outfit Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

It should be mentioned here that at least 29 persons including military officials were martyred while 29 people sustained injuries in the early morning attack carried out at PAF base camp in Badaber, Peshawar here on Friday.

The Armed Forces’ spokesperson expressed aims that military troops will continue decisive operations for complete elimination of the terrorists as whole nation has united to uproot terrorism from the country.
