ISLAMABAD: The federal government has all set to fire 8,000 employees of Pakistan International Airlines before privatization.
The government has planned to hire pilots and other employees on contract bases. Media reports emerged that a Gulf company expressed its interest to by 26 percent shares of the PIA. The Gulf company declared the 8,000 a burden on the airline and asked the government to downsize the PIA. Sources said that the government would get rid of the employees by the ‘Golden hand shake.’
