KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer, Senator Sirajul Haq on Thursday demanded the federal government to bring matter of privatisation of national-flag carrier Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) under discussion in the National Assembly (NA).
Sirajul Haq was talking to journalists after meeting delegation of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of PIA employees at Karachi airport. Siraj said that the government made silent arrangements for privatisation of the national flag carrier.
He clarified that the finance minister Ishaq Dar had said in his letter stating that all four provinces showed agreement to privatise PIA but at least the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) was not taken into confidence on the matter.
Sirajul Haq demanded the government to take back Presidential Ordinance in national interest and to bring matter into discussion in NA.
While commenting over Rangers’ special powers, JI Ameer said that a dispute was created between the federal and provincial governments, however, nationals have rejected policy of the Sindh authorities over limiting Rangers’ powers.
Sirajul Haq strongly condemned sorrowful death of 10-year-old Bisma due to protocol measures of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. He expressed his grief over the incident and demanded to end VIP culture across the country.
