KARACHI: Three more Pakistan Airline International (PIA) flights have been cancelled on Oct 3 on Saturday morning as dispute between PIA and Pakistan Airline Pilots’ Association (PALPA) could not be resolved on the third day of dispute.
Efforts of authorities are on to redress the issue at earliest. Prime minister’s advisor for aviation has summoned meeting of PIA management and PALPA in Islamabad as the issue does not seem yet to be resolving after two full days and cancellation of about 50 flights.
Chairman PIA Nasir Jaffar has termed the protest unreasonable and said the working agreement of PALPA needed to be reviewed.
The conflict has inflicted over Rs140 million loss to the airline as the cancelled flights include dozens of international flights.
PALPA said mismanagement of PIA bosses would hand the organisation losses of millions and trouble the passengers.
President PALPA Capt Aamir Hashmi said employment agreement was not being followed. The pilots were doing exhausting job with long overtimes and no leaves.
The tension between PALPA and PIA escalated further after some pilots were suspended by Civil Aviation Authority.
