The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) claimed to have seized several tonnes of suspected ‘pig meat’ from Lahore.

Director General PFA Ayesha Mumtaz talking to media said PAF officials carried out a raid near the Lahore Railway Station and recovered a huge quantity of suspicious meat after receiving reports of pig meat being supplied to the city.

She said they have been receiving reports for some time that haram meat and the meat of dead animals is being supplied to food joints in the adjoining areas of Lahore.

One suspect, who was allegedly involved in supplying the ‘suspicious’ meat, has been arrested and further investigations are being carried out, DG PFA said.

Meanwhile, the suspected meat has been sent to a laboratory for DNA testing and final results will be shared with the media, the DG PFA said.
