Peshawar police foil terror bid; arrest bomber

PESHAWAR: Special Police Unit of Peshawar foiled a terror bid on Friday as they arrested an alleged militant and defused a high intensity explosive near a general bus stand in city’s Gulbahar area.

 The terrorist was arrested from Haji Camp General Bus Stand ahead of Friday prayers.

The personnel seized a bomb weighing at least 11 Kilogram (Kg) from Waheedullah’s possession. The bomb was placed in a water cooler. Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) diffused the bomb after learning about the arrest.

During operation the SPU arrested a terrorist identified as Waheedullah along with 11 kilogram remote controlled bomb contained in a water cooler.

Sources said that Waheedullah was wanted in killings of at least 42 personnel and more than six terror acts. The militant was also involved in killings of Intelligence Bureau’s (IB) director, assistant director, retired superintendent of police and inspector.

However, the terrorist has been shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation. He is said to be from Orakzai Agency.
