Peace talks: Afghan govt, Taliban to hold second round on Friday in Murree

PESHAWAR: Afghan government and Taliban will hold second round of peace talks on Friday in Murree.

A Pakistani official said that the representatives of Afghan government and Taliban will meet in Murree. He said that the meeting to be held in the hill resort of Murree just outside Pakistan’s federal capital of Islamabad. He continued that the meeting would be more substantive, raising hopes of a viable peace process to end the conflict in Afghanistan.

He said on the condition of anonymity that the second round would be more substantive and detailed. The official continued, “The fact that the two sides are re-convening in less than a month is encouraging. It is a big success.”
