ISLAMABAD: Minister for Commerce Khurram Dastgir has said Pakistan is committed to have a robust economic engagement with Bahrain.
He was speaking at Pakistan-Bahrain Business Opportunities Conference in Islamabad today. The
Minister said the two countries already have closer cooperation in different fields. Khurram Dastgir said Pakistan faced worst kind of extremism but people of Pakistan have demonstrated unique resilience and strength in facing the challenge.
He said it is because of this that today Pakistan has moved out of the dark period and entered into a brighter phase. He said peace is not just in Islamabad but also in places like Karachi, Balochistan and tribal areas.
The Minister for Commerce said the Government is committed to maintain the peace as this is vital for economic progress and development.
Commerce Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan said the enhanced cooperation in trade and commerce will further cement their long term brotherly relations.
He said the two countries have entered a new phase of bilateral relations with partnerships in trade and commerce.
The Minister said time is ripe for foreign investments in Pakistan. He said the landmark project of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor will take Pakistan to new heights of progress and prosperity.
Speaking on the occasion, Pakistan’s ambassador to Bahrain Javed Malik said Pakistan has an open door policy and welcomes all moves aimed at enhancing cooperation in different areas.
He said the visa policy is being streamlined for facilitating trade and investment with Bahrain.
In his address, the President Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Zubair Tufail said Pakistan has vast opportunities for investment and we welcome and invite our Bahraini brethren to invest here.
He said telecommunications, tourism, infra structure sectors are flourishing rapidly and offer magnanimous investment opportunities.
The President Bahrain’s chamber of commerce and industry Khalid al Moyyed said we are pleased by the support and warm welcome by Government and people of Pakistan.
He said the two countries share much in common and the enhanced cooperation in trade and commerce will widen the horizons of bilateral relations between the two countries.
