PCB conducting cricket promoting programmes in 98 districts: Subhan Ahmed

ISLAMABAD: Chief Operating Officer, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Subhan Ahmed has said that PCB is conducting the Cricket promoting programes in 98 zones/districts which is further divided into 16 regions all over the country.

He stated this while briefing the meeting of the Standing Committee on Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) held at Cabinet Secretariat here on Monday with MNA Abdul Qahar Khan in chair.

Subhan Ahmed apprised the Committee that PCB through its Chairman approves the cricket tours abroad. The PCB operates and functions independently as autonomous body which regulates its own revenues and neither takes nor receives any grants or funds from the government to the public exchequer, he added.

The Committee expressed its displeasure over the absence of chairman and other high ups of PCB in the meeting and it was decided that they would attend the next meeting. The Committee also took serious notice of sending Muhammad Hafeez to UK series despite of his fitness problems before the Selection Committee. The Committee recommended that the players from grass root level i.e. district and tehsil level should be encouraged to participate at the National level.

The Minister for IPC briefed the Committee that the Chairman and other senior management of PCB is in UK for side line meetings with ICC. He further informed the Committee that ICC did not allow any interference of the governments in international cricket affairs. The Committee recommended that High Performance Cricket Centers should be established in the areas like Quetta, Abbottabad etc.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Saeed Ahmed Khan Manais, Ms. Sabiha Nazir, Dr. Mahreen Razzaque Bhutto, Mr. Siraj Muhammad Khan, Rana Muhammad Hayat Khan, Rana Muhammad Afzal Khan, Mr. Khalid Hussain Magsi, Mr. Iqbal Muhammad Ali Khan, Syed Kazim Ali Shah and Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani MNAs, Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination and Senior Officers from Ministry of Inter-provincial Coordination besides Chief Operating Officer Pakistan Cricket Board and others.
