Prime Minister Imran Khan emphasised on austerity measures for effective governing in his first speech to the Senate on Monday.
In his speech, the prime minister said that he will keep on attending the Senate sessions, adding that the biggest platform for accountability is the Parliament.
“The rulers should tell the public know that our tax money is not for a luxurious lifestyle, it is for the people,” he said.
The PM also said that the rulers should cut their expenses, adding that all the ministers should lead by example in this regard.
He further said that the foreign tours will be done when the condition in Pakistan has improved.
A plan will be made for overseas Pakistanis for investment and the framework will be put forth until a week, said the PM.
Earlier, the Senate adopted a unanimous resolution against a blasphemous caricature competition in the Netherlands
After passing of the resolution, Imran Khan addressed the upper House of Parliament.
