LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Sirajul Haq on Wednesday demanded formation of a Judicial Commission (JC) under chair of Chief Justice of Pakistan Anwar Zaheer Jamali to probe the corruption of current and former Pakistani rulers whose corruption bids were exposed in Panama papers.
The JI Ameer said Panama Leaks had unveiled several hidden treasures and information of looted money transferred to foreign country. He added that Prime Minister should himself tabled resignation over the revelations.
Sirajul Haq expressed the thought while addressing luncheon event organised in honour of Punjab Assembly’s Press Gallery Committee.
He reiterated 800 persons including personalities of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) included in National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) envisaged by former president Pervez Musharraf were “national criminals.”
He said that JI has prepared bills for elimination of corruption and women rights, added that the bill would be tabled in the assembly soon. He said that JI will continue protest against the corruption to raise the issue on all platforms including the parliament.
Siraj recommended the government to approve the JI’s women rights’ bill after taking back the controversial Punjab’s “Protection of Women against Violence Bill 2015.”
While commenting over seriousness of corruption issue in the country, the JI Ameer said the rulers put every child of the nation under the debt of International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank (WB).
Haq said that several largest national entities including Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM), Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) were destroyed due to the rulers corruption.
He strongly criticised the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), saying the country will not face any financial crisis and destruction of largest national entities if NAB performed its duties transparently during last 16 years instead of pre-bargaining plans with the corrupt elements.
