ISLAMABAD: Pakistan wants ‘result-oriented, sustainable’ dialogue with India and welcomes mediation by international community on Kashmir issue, Foreign Office said here Thursday.
“We always welcome offers of mediation by friendly countries including the United States, China and Iran, and the UN Secretary General for the resolution of Kashmir issue,” Foreign Office Spokesman Nafees Zakaria said at a weekly press briefing.
The Spokesman said that Pakistan looked forward to international community making sure that “India stops bloodshed in Kashmir and engages in dialogue”.
He, however said “dialogue should not be just for the sake of dialogue”, rather it should be sustainable and result- oriented for the ultimate resolution of Kashmir issue in accordance with the UN Security Council’s resolutions.
On reports of United States considering technology transfer of F-16 aircraft to India, Zakaria said that Pakistan was against arms race in the region and favoured utilization of the region’s resources for its prosperity and development.
The Spokesman expressed concern over continued blatant violation of human rights committed by the Indian security forces in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
He said despite unabated genocide and crimes against humanity committed by the Indian forces in India occupied
Kashmir, the indigenous movement for self-determination remains undeterred.
Zakaria said the courage, unity and leadership of Hurriyat Leaders despite extreme hardships faced by them deserved Pakistan’s full moral, political and diplomatic support.
He urged upon the international community to call India to account for its crimes against humanity, as the world observes human rights day two days from now i.e. on December 10.
The Spokesman said Pakistan did not discriminated against any militant group or outfit and an across-the-board action was taken for their elimination.
He pointed that there was a need to see that many of these terrorist outfits were being operated from Afghanistan and mentioned that since July to date, eight terrorist leaders belonging to different organizations were killed at Afghan territory.
To a question on Afghan President Ashraf Ghani “speaking India’s language” at Heart of Asia Conference in Amritsar, the Spokesman quoted the response of Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz’s as saying that Pakistan would not allow its soil to be used against Afghanistan.
The Spokesman said India, at Heart of Asia Conference, tried to spoil the environment and created an atmosphere that sent negative signals instead of focusing on cooperation.
He said despite all odds and negativity, Pakistan attended the event in Amritsar due to its commitment with Afghanistan’s peace.
When asked if Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry was being appointed as Ambassador in U.S, Zakaria declined to comment citing it an administrative matter.
Zakaria said Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi who was on an official visit to U.S was reaching out to Congressmen, key officials of the outgoing administration, establish contacts with the incoming administration, UN Officials, media and think-tanks.
Earlier, the Spokesman expressed deep grief over the tragic incident of plane crash near Havelian and offered fateha for the departed souls.
