LAHORE: Pakistan Railways decided to purchase 34 modern locomotives from the US General Electric Company under a Memonrandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between two sides on Saturday.
Federal Minister for Railways, Khawaja Saad Rafique, said that the government is making all measures to make Pakistan Railways a profitable organisation.
While delivering his addressing on the occasion in Lahore,Rafique vowed to make Pakistan Railways a profit oriented organisation to facilitate nationals with latest, safe and swift transportation.
Thirty-four modern locomotives would be purchased by the US General Electric Company while first shipment of 20 locomotives will reach Pakistan within next 16 months following the recently signed MoU.
On the event, Rafique assured that railway fares will not be increased in Pakistan and section-to-section fares in Green Line have been issued which is applicable from today.
