Pakistan in contact with China to ensure safety of its students against coronavirus: FO

ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office has said that the Pakistan government had been in contact with the health authorities in neighbouring China to ensure safety of its students studying there.

The government is closely observing the coronovirus situation in China, Foreign Office Spokesperson Aaisha Farooqui told a weekly press briefing here on Thursday.

She said that Islamabad had taken up the food shortage issue with the Chinese officials. They assured us full support, the FO spokesperson added.

Earlier, Pakistan on Wednesday confirmed coronavirus in four of its students studying in China.

Addressing a presser here, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr Zafar Mirza said that the four students had tested positive for the deadly disease in China.

However, the special assistant did not share details of the Pakistani students tested positive for coronavirus with the media persons.
