Pakistan determined to eliminate terrorism: Sartaj Aziz

Adviser on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz says international community needs to join hands to develop a strategy to counter terrorism.

Sartaj Aziz addressing a joint news conference along with the visiting German Foreign Minister Frank Walter Steinmeier after their talks in Islamabad on Monday said the scourge of terrorism is continuing and Pakistan is paying heavy price in the fight against terrorism.

He said operation Zarb-e-Azb has broken the backbone of terrorists adding that Pakistan is determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism.

The Advisor said they have a productive meeting and exchanged views on bilateral relations, regional and global issues specially situation in Afghanistan and stalemate in India-Pakistan dialogue.

He said relations with Germany has a special place in Pakistan’s foreign policy. He said trade volume between the two countries is approaching three billion dollars.

The Adviser said Pakistan welcomes German investment in various sectors of economy including engineering and renewable energy. He said they discussed cooperation in the fields of parliamentary exchanges, capacity building and education.

He hoped the relations between the two countries will further strengthen in future.

German Foreign Minister said Germany give high importance to its relations with Pakistan. He said during the meeting they discussed regional situation.

The Minister appreciated achievements of Pakistan in its fight against terrorism. He said the world recognizes the sacrifices of Pakistan against terrorism.

He also lauded Pakistan’s efforts for peace in Afghanistan.
