BAKU: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Saturday said that leadership level contacts between Pakistan and Azerbaijan will give impetus to our economic, defense and cooperation in diverse fields.
“We will work together at bilateral and multilateral levels to achieve our shared goals. Our two governments have vibrant democracies and closer cooperation between the parliaments of both the countries will strengthen governmental level efforts to enhance economic cooperation”, further said the Prime Minister while talking to the Speaker of the Azxerbaijan Parliament here on Saturday.
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was received by Speaker of Milli Mejlis H.E Mr. Ogtay Asadov on arrival at Milli Mejlis (the Parliament of Azerbaijan). The Speaker briefed the Prime Minister regarding the working of Azeri Parliament.
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif thanked the speaker for providing the opportunity to visit the Azeri Parliament. ” We have very strong fraternal relations. We had extremely fruitful sessions with the President and the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan which provided valuable opportunities to consider enhancing cooperation with Azerbaijan in various fields. I was honoured to receive the honorary doctorate degree conferred by the Rector of Baku State University. Accepts our heartiest felicitations on the national day of Azerbaijan Republic falling on the 18th of October”, said the Prime Minister.
“Pakistan appreciates Azerbaijan’s continued support to Pakistan on Kashmir issue. The mutual support of both the countries for each other on the issues of Nagorono Karabakh and Kashmir is a testimony to our strong relations. India has unleashed terror on innocent civilian of Kashmir and killed more than 112 people while nearly 200 are blinded by use of pellet guns while about 10, 000 other have been injured injured in the massive violations of human rights by Indian forces in the last 3 months only. India has deliberately escalated tension on LoC to divert the world’s attention from the Kashmir issue. The implementation on UN’s resolutions should not be selective”, said the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister said that he would convey the speaker’s invitation to the chairman Senate and Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan and they will be happy to visit Azerbaijan.
The Speaker said that Pakistan and Azerbaijan have fraternal relations based on shared history and culture. “Your visit will immensely enhance the bilateral relations between our two countries. I am confident that your meetings with the President and Prime Minister of Azerbaijan were fruitful. Pakistan’s most valued support to Azerbaijan on issues of our national interest is held in the greatest esteem”, said the Speaker.
The Prime Minister also visited Fakhri Khiyban (Alley of Honor) where he laid a wreath at the Tomb of Hayder Aliyev former president of Azerbaijan.
The Prime Minister also visited the Alley of Martyrs at Shahidlar Khiyabani, Baku where he paid homage to the martyrs of the freedom struggle of the Azeri inference movement.
The Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had an informal chat with journalists at the breakfast this morning. In response to various questions, the Prime Minister said that Kashmir is the main cause of unrest in the region.
Pakistan is a peace loving country and war is not the solution of any issue. India requires serious approach to all issues. India without evidences blamed Pakistan for Urdu attack”, said the PM.
Nawaz Sharif said that huge energy projects are currently underway throughout the country. Prices of power and power outages reduced and industry is getting 24hrs uninterrupted power supply.
He said we respected mandate of all parties, a culture not familiar in the past. He said certain elements want to shut country but we will take it to development path.
The Prime Minister said CPEC will be completed on fast track basis. 10000 mw power to be added by end of this year.
He said Pakistan was committed to peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue as it was a peace-loving country. He regretted Indian baseless allegations over Uri incident.
Pakistan offered holding of dialogue on the outstanding issues on several times but India did not reciprocate, he said adding if India was serious in resolving the issue, then Pakistan would talk to it.
The Prime Minister said his government had introduced a new culture of political tolerance in the country as they respected mandate of every party.
“The PPP formed government in Sindh and we respected it. Similarly we have respected MQM as an opposition party. Even unethical language is used in KPK where we also respected the public mandate,” he added.
He vowed to take the country to path of progress and prosperity, despite certain elements’ plans to shut the country.
