ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and China Sunday signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on health, education and poverty reduction, and cooperation in cultural heritage under China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Chairman CPEC from Pakistan Senator Talha Mehmood and Chairperson China Cultural Heritage Foundation Jane Geng signed the agreement here at a ceremnoy.
Speaking on the occasion, Senator Talha Mehmood said logistic centres had been established in Sichuan province of China. Similarly, work was under way on fast-track basis on the projects initiated near Pak-China border.
Pakistan, he said, should also expedite projects linked to the CPEC as Chinese delegations were continuously visiting Pakistan for early completion of the project. A school and health centre, he said, were also being inaugurated in Gwadar.
Talha said Pakistan should set up working committees for supervising the work on CEPC projects and ensuring their timely completion.
The China Cultural Heritage Foundation Chairperson is currently on a one-week visit to Pakistan. During her visit she held meetings with Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Pervaiz Rashid and Board of Investment Chairman.
Rotary Club International organzied a function in her honour at Karachi.
