LAHORE: Secretary General Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Liaqat Baloch said that Pakistan can be strengthened only through the Islamic system and the masses could march on the road to progress and prosperity under a system based on social justice, judicious distribution of resources, an honest and responsible leadership.
Addressing notables in NA 126 constituency on Monday, he said that in every era, some personalities and parties gained popularity and the masses had great expectations from them. But unfortunately, the hopes of the masses soon dashed to the ground as they did not notice any major change.
He said that the dependence of the political leaders and parties on corrupt, incompetent and notorious elements and their failure to groom party workers and strengthen democracy within the party were the real cause of the present political mess.
He said that the religious parties, the Ulema and scholars would have to play a leading role in safeguarding the Islamic ideology and national security.
He assured the gathering that the JI would continue its efforts for the protection of the country’s ideology and geographical boundaries, the uplift of the masses and for bringing up an honest and competent leadership.
Liaqat Baloch said that Kashmir was an issue of life and death for Pakistan and independence and self-determination was the basic right of the Kashmiris. He hoped that the new UN Secretary General would take special interest in the solution of the Kashmir and Palestine issues in line with the UN resolutions.
Meanwhile, Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, and JI Secretary General, Liaqat Baloch, have expressed deep grief over the road accident near Khanpur.
