Pakistan have successfully defended 171 against New Zealand as the visitors grabbed 16 runs victory after thrilling battle.
New Zealand in reply were all out on 155 in 20 overs. The hosts made a strong comeback after losing first wicket on 9 runs.
Skipper Kane Williamson once against played an outstanding knock of 70 while Colin Munro smashed 56 of 27 deliveries to overcome Pakistani bowlers.
At the score of 89 New Zealand lost the curtail wicket in shape of Munro. He was bowled by Wahab Riaz when he was batting on 56.
Then whole New Zealand batting order collapse from one end while Skipper Williamson continue to resist from the other end. His long resistance came to end in 20th over when he chipped the bowl in the deep straight in the hands of Shoaib Malik.
The whole team was all out on 155 in the last over.
Wahab Riaz picked three wickets for Pakistan while Afridi and Umar Gul bagged two wickets each for the Green-shirts.
Afridi was awarded Man of the match due to his all-round performance.
Earlier, Pakistan had set massive 172 runs target against New Zealand.
Mohammad Hafeez played an outstanding knock of 61 after Pakistan were put into bat by New Zealand. The Green-Shirts were off to a flying start when Hafeez and Ahmed Shehzad came out to bat.
First wicket of the visitors fell on 33 in shape of Shehzad who made 16. Sohaib Maqsood’s disappointing run with the bat continued as he was stumped without troubling the scorers.
Shoaib Malik got the start but couldn’t convert in the big score. He departed after scoring 20 runs while Skipper Shahid Afridi smashed 23 of just eight deliveries and Umar Akmal made 24 to guide the total to 171 on loss of eight wickets.
Adam Milne was the stand out bowler for the hosts as he picked four wickets.
