Pakistan beat Australia by 6 wickets in 2nd ODI

MELBOURNE: Pakistan have beaten Australia by 6 wickets in 2nd One-Day International (ODI) played at Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday.

The green-shirts made a strong comeback in 2nd ODI after 1-0 down in the series and registered a historic win against the Aussies.

Skipper Mohammad Hafeez led from the front after been put down in the 1st over of the innings by Australian skipper Steven Smith on the delivery of Mitchell Starc.

Hafeez smoked 72 and helped the team to register a historic win at the MCG after 32 years. He was also awarded man of the match.

Senior batsman Shoaib Malik also played a wonderful knock of 42 to ensure team’s victory. Sharjeel Khan contributed with 29 with partnership with Hafeez.

While Babar Azam once again played a classy little innings of 34 before losing the wicket of Starc’s delivery. Umar Akmal smashed uneaten 18 to finish the game with 14 balls to spare.

Earlier, Australia batting first were bowled out by Pakistan on 220 runs. Junaid Khan picked up two key wickets of David Warner and Usman Khawaja on international return nearly after 1.5 years.

Mohammad Amir once again showed his magic with the ball and bagged three wickets.

Skipper Steven Smith played a responsible innings of 60 runs before was bowled by Imad Wasim. Imad bagged two wickets just giving away 37 runs in his 10 overs.

Centurion at Brisbane, Mathew Wade was restricted to 35 runs by Shoaib Malik while dangerous Maxwell (23) was bowled by Imad.

The Aussies were bowled out on 220 runs in 43.2 overs.

This is Pakistan’s first win against Australia in Australia in any format since 30 January 2005.
