LAHORE: Pakistan U18 hockey fashioned out its successive second victory in the Asia Junior Asia Cup thrashing China 6-0 on Sunday  at Dhaka’s Maulana Bhashani Hockey Stadium.

In the opener of the event, Pakistan scored impressive 6-1 win over Chinese Taipei, said the information made available here by Pakistan Hockey Federation.

Pakistan struggled to find the target in the opening half and lost a number of scoring sitters due to poor finish in the striking circle and led the first half with a thin margin of 1-0.                                                                                                                                                       In the second half, they were all over China and goals came regularly. Chinese did raid opponents’ territory a few times but Pakistani defence held firm.

From green shrts Amjad Ali, Afraz shared two goals apiece and Khairullah and Ali Aziz scored one goal each.

Pakistan’s final pool match is against Hong Kong  China on September 27.

The last match of the previous evening produced the most shocking result. Buoyed by a big home crowd, Bangladesh defeated India 5-4.

Four of their goals were scored by the drag flicker Ashraful Islam.

This is the first time in history that a Bangladesh U-18 team beat an India U-18 side in any international tournament.

The last time an age-level Bangladesh side beat an Indian team was back in 2004 in the U-21 Challenge Cup Hockey in Dhaka.
