MAKKAH: Over two million faithful began Hajj here on Friday.
Over 1.5 million pilgrims arrived this year from around the world in Saudi Arabia to perform the pilgrimage, according to the Saudi General Directorate of Passports.
The numbers are eight percent more than 2018. A total of 2.5 million Muslims will perform Hajj this year.
The Saudi government has earmarked eight-square kilometers of area for about 45,000 tents in Mina with the view to accommodate 1.5 pilgrims.
