Opposition parties hold rallies for Rangers power in Karachi

KARACHI: Different political parties on Monday hold protest rallies for extension in Rangers special powers in Karachi.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Pakistan Muslim League (Functional) jointly took out a rally at city’s busiest thoroughfare Sharah-e-Faisal, calling upon the provincial government to grant extension in special powers to Rangers.

Similarly, a protest demonstration was staged at Numaish Chowrangi by Majlis Wahdat ul Muslimeen (MWM) in support of the Rangers.

While, several other associations including mobile market dealers and Fruit and Vegetable Association demonstrated support for the paramilitary force and their prolonged stay in Karachi.

According to police, traffic flow has been badly affected on MA Jinnah Road, Shahra-e-Quaideen and adjoining streets owing to the protest.
