KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah on Wednesday termed Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain’s recent statement ‘unbearable’ adding that only a retard will call for India’s intervention.

According to details, Shah said that the MQM chief’s recent speech in which he called for UN and NATO forces’ intervention in Pakistan is highly condemnable.

He maintained that only a mentally ill man will call for Indian intervention in Pakistan’s internal matters.

The CM completely rejected the notion that the law enforcement agencies operation in Karachi is not against any particular party or group.

Earlier on Sunday, Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had termed Hussain’s speech tantamount to waging war against Pakistan.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, the federal interior minister said, “The hate-inciting speech, made in a foreign country last night, crossed all limits. Heads of key institutions were insulted.”

He added that, “Sarcastic poems were read against the armed forces of Pakistan and accusations were levelled against the army.”

The interior minister was of the view that “these statements cannot exhibit the sentiments of a patriotic Pakistani”.

Meanwhile MQM’s co-ordination committee categorically denied the allegations of calling for Indian or international help by their party chief in his August 2 speech in Dallas, US.

The MQM committee also criticised statements of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Balochistan Home Minister Sarfaraz Bugti about Mr Hussain’s speech and said he had spoken only the truth.

Altaf’s speech

On August 2, MQM chief Altaf Hussain has called on workers of his party to petition the United Nations and Nato to send forces to Karachi to ascertain the ‘real facts’ about the killing of ‘Mohajirs’ in the metropolitan city.

In a telephone address to the annual MQM convention in Dallas, US late Saturday, Altaf alleged that ‘biased elements’ in Pakistan’s establishment have decided to “eliminate Mohajir youths who are demanding their due rights”.
