LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan Secretary General and former parliamentary leader Liaqat Baloch said Wednesday that ongoing political crisis increased risks to national security, nationals and economy of the country. He said elements claiming political, democratic and public representations showed irresponsible politics which dented image of the country internationally.

Liaqat Baloch was addressing political workers and notables of NA-126 constituency in Lahore. He said the Supreme Court (SC) made positive move to end national crisis in accordance with national demands.

Commenting over emergence of Panama Papers, Baloch said Jamaat-e-Islami has adopted only stance to run the country in accordance with the Constitution and indiscriminate trials to eliminate corruption by formation of a judicial commission. He highlighted corrupt elements in the government and opposition were responsible for delay in investigation and ongoing political crisis.

Liaqat Baloch said recommendations were made during joint session of opposition political parties to pass resolutions in Senate, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Sindh assemblies over Term of References (ToRs). He urged opposition leaders to apprise Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) in a letter containing details of joint ToRs for judicial commission on Panama Papers’ probe.

He expressed hopes that the judicial commission will give future strategy for investigation and accountability. He added that Pakistanis will have to elect eligible and honest leadership to end such crisis.
