SRINAGAR: Indian Army has deployed one more Brigade in South Kashmir to stop people from staging anti-India demonstrations.
According to KMS , reports said that Brigade had been headquartered at Victor Force Headquarters of army at Awantipora in Pulwama district and its three battalions would be mostly deployed in the areas in the foothills of mountains.
The Brigade was shifted to South Kashmir from Jammu region.
South Kashmir will have now four Brigades of Indian Army. The other three Brigades are based at Khanabal in Islamabad, Balpora in Shopian and Wazoor, Qazigund in Kulgam.
A senior Army officer said that the troops for the Brigade had arrived and they were being deployed.
South Kashmir has been witnessing massive protests in the aftermath of killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander, Burhan Wani, on July 8.
One more battalion, the headquarter battalion, of Trehgam-based Brigade has also arrived in Kupwara.
It may be mentioned here that the Trehgam-based 68 Mountain Brigade in Kupwara district was deployed at Shamshabari Range.
As per reports two more brigades of Indian Army will soon be rushed and deployed across the valley.
