In Indonesia, an extraordinary summit of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif kicked off in Jakarta on Sunday.

The summit is being held at the request of Palestine’s President Mahmoud Abbas, after the escalation of Israeli violence in the occupied territories and restriction imposed by it to access the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem.

Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi in a statement said the high-level summit is expected to push international forums to prioritize the issue of Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif.

President Mamnoon Hussain will represent Pakistan along with representatives from 49 Muslim countries in two days summit.

Meanwhile, Minister for Climate Change Zahid Hamid represented Pakistan at the ministerial preparatory meeting, which preceded the high-level heads of state meeting to be held on Monday.
