Obama rejects using ground troops in Middle East against IS

ANTALYA: US President Barack Obama has clearly rejected usage of military forces in the Middle East but to intensify targeted airstrikes and assistance to local ground forces in Syria and Iraq to defeat Islamic State (IS).

President Obama declared that his strategy for defeating the terror group to intensify airstrikes and assistance to local ground forces instead of being engaged in ground battles in Middle East.

He also rejected to turn away Syrian refugees at home by saying, ‘The people who are fleeing Syria  are the most harmed by terrorism; they are the most vulnerable as a consequence of civil war and strife,” foreign media reported.

He was addressing a news conference at the end of the international summit, G20 Antalya Summit. Obama urged that US has adopted ‘right strategy and we’re going to see it through.’

President Obama will head for summit meetings to the Philippines and Malaysia.
