LAHORE: Now people in Punjab can get potable water from Water ATMs to be installed at various locations across the province.
Water ATMs are basically water dispensers, which would be installed to provide clean water to public in areas where muddy and unfit for consumption natural resource is supplied.
The Water ATMs will be installed across the province. In this connection, the Information Technology University Lahore and University of Colorado (US) have signed an agreement.
The project would cost around $374,599.
A recent research has shown that due to ineffective monitoring of the water filtration plants, locals are deprived of clean water facilities. It also says that Pakistan is on the brink of facing a severe water crises as the underground water level has now gone down to a 1000 cubic metre, which is alarming.
The Water ATM machines will be controlled electronically and it will be possible to measure the quality of the water as well.
