IHC rejects plea seeking inquiry into threatening letter

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Athar Minallah has said that no one can influence his judges as they do not open that door.

“Finger has been raised on the impartiality of my judges. I have never allowed anyone access to myself in entire life. My doors had been closed for everyone,” Justice Athar Minallah remarked.

The IHC heard the contempt of court case concerning affidavit of Rana Shamim.

Justice Athar Minallah asked Rana Shamim if he had submitted a reply to the court? To which, he replied that had handed over the reply to his lawyers four days back. My counsel are arriving the court, he will submit it, he added.

The chief justice asked court assistant Faisal Siddiqui about the responsibilities of a newspaper reporter. Rana Shamim had yesterday said that he did not give affidavit to any newspaper. Whether a news can be published without any responsibility?
