No long term contract signed with Qatar for LNG: Khaqan Abbasi

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi winding up discussion on an adjournment motion moved by Mohsin Aziz and others regarding price of LNG and other related matters in the Senate has said that no long term contract has yet been signed for import of LNG from Qatar.

The Minister said negotiations for the contract are still in process and hoped that Pakistan will import LNG at the lowest rate in Asia.

The Minister said the LNG is the cheapest fuel that will be used in power plants and fertilizer sector and i assured that we will use the LNG terminal to its full capacity.

Earlier, Saeed Ghani, Ilyas Bilour, Mohsin Aziz, Azam Swati and Tahir Hussain Mashhadi taking part in the discussion said the matter is very serious and the government should take it seriously.
