No discussion on Indian spy with COAS: President Rouhani

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Saturday said that there was no discussion held regarding Indian spy arrested in Pakistan during meeting with Army Chief General Raheel Sharif. He said that Iran has brotherly relations with Pakistan and India and the country is willing to provide electricity to Pakistan.

While addressing a press conference in Islamabad, President Rouhani said that both countries were assisting each other in energy sector by steadily working on gas pipeline and electricity projects. He added that railway connection between China and Gwadar port will be beneficial for whole region while Iran wanted to make railway and road connections with Pakistan.

Rouhani praised sacrifices of Pakistan in war against terrorism, however, he clarified no discussions were held about Indian spy. He said that different meetings held with Pakistani top brass were “positive and fruitful”. He admitted that rumours always started circulating around when both countries came nearer. He said that betterment in communication is in interest of both countries.

Iranian top head said he has held detailed discussion over economy-related matters with Pakistani leadership. He added to show real face of Islam before the World by ending sectarian conflicts. He urged enhancement of coordination between the neighbouring countries in education, health and technology sectors.
