ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan will brief Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif today (Friday) on issue regarding cricket team’s security in India for World T20.
The minister called on Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shehryar Khan and discussed the issue. Pakistan squad is supposed to leave for India within four days however, federal minister Nisar stated that the government could not green light Pakistan’s participation until satisfactory security is ensured.
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) chairman Shashank Manohar had assured foolproof security to Pakistani team on March 1.
It should be noted here that Himachal Pradesh’s government had earlier refused to host the match between Pakistan and India in the forthcoming World T20.
The match between Pakistan and India is scheduled on March 19 at Dharamshala stadium.
The two countries have not played a bilateral series for more than three years.
