LAHORE: Pakistan Railways has suspended nine officials over their alleged negligence that led to the train accident near Daharki in which over 60 passengers were killed.
According to the preliminary investigation report of the railway department, a notification has also been issued for the suspension of the officials responsible for the Daharki train accident.
The notification added that the suspended officers include six officers of the railway department from Lahore and Sukkur while Deputy DS Shaukat Sheikh, Mujeeb-ur-Rehman and Masroor Anwar from Karachi.
The suspended officials include Mohammad Imran DME to Lahore while Ghulam Qadir Lakho, Nihal Khan, Abdul Aziz of Sukkur Railway and Qazi Shamsuddin of Mirpur Mathilo Railway and Ibtisam Al Hassan of Karachi Railway.
Meanwhile, Railways Minister Azam Swati said that 63 passengers were killed and 107 injured in the Daharki train accident and now only 20 are under treatment at hospitals.
