NEW DELHI: At least 43 people lost their lives in a devastating fire erupted in a factory located in the city’s central grain market here on Sunday.
Police and rescue sources said that the fire erupted at a factory at 5:30am, causing death of 43 people. Most of the victims were the factory workers. They were asleep when the fire erupted, they added.
About 25 fire tenders took part in the rescue operation.
The fire fighters faced severe hardships in putting out the fire as the factory was located in the area which has alleyways.
