ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan Friday said it turned out in the courtroom that Nawaz Sharif’s counsel has no evidences, though they had claimed to have all the relevant proofs.
Talking to media after the Supreme Court of Pakistan adjourned the Panamagate scandal corruption case till Monday, Imran Khan said that the Prime Minister was finally replying to allegations against him. A premier stands accountable in democracies, adding every single one whose corruption was unveiled by Panama Papers, had answered to clarify his name.
He added that the Nawaz Sharif was running away from the court. “National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Ordinance does not need to change. The Prime Minister needs to change,” he said.
“It seems like we will need four witnesses to prove the money trail,” he said.
He said the PM’s counsels are seeking pretexts and are beating about the bush; this clearly shows that they have no documents to substantiate their case, he claimed calling upon the Prime Minister not to hide behind technicalities.
He said a leader should be ‘Sadiq’ and ‘Ameen’ (honest and trustworthy) as it is very difficult to find a person with such a character in the country.
He said that PM’s lawyer repeatedly said that they had documentation and money trails but during the last two days they failed to provide the evidences.
PTI chief continued that: “We brought Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) report, we brought BBC documentary with the same money trail and Ishaq Dar’s affidavit which matched the FIA findings about the Kazi family.”
He said that this is a defining moment for Pakistan and the time that will decide that law is equal for the small thieves who steal a cycle and languishes in jail for years, and the powerful who steals billions.
