LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan Ameer, Senator Sirajul Haq, has said that the enforcement of the Nizam e Mustafa in the country was not a matter of choice but a part of our faith.

It is the dictate of the love of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) to build Pakistan as an Islamic welfare state on the pattern of the state of Madina and every effort be made for the enforcement of the Nizam-e- Musatafa, he said while addressing a Seerat Conference at Mansoora mosque Saturday evening. Eminent Ulema and religious scholars from all schools of thought addressed the moot.

The speakers paid homage to the Holy Prophet and highlighted different aspects of his Seerat.  These included Syed Ziaullah Shah Bukhari, Allama Zubair Ahmed Zaheer, Maulana Amjad Khan, Maulana Abdur Rauf Farooqi,Dr Fareed Peracha.

Sirajul Haq deplored the passage of a bill in the Sindh Assembly restricting change of religion below eighteen years of age. And said this was sheer state terrorism against the Muslims.

The JI chief said it was the primary function of the Ummah to rise above petty differences and strive for the enforcement of the Islamic order encompassing all walks of life.

He said that Pakistan was the heart of the Muslim world and it was a religious binding as well as a constitution requirement to cleanse it from corrupt rulers and to bring forth honest leadership.

He said the formation of a judicial commission for Panama leaks enquiry was the demand of the joint opposition and not the JI alone. He said the JI was demanding judicial commission on the basis of the joint ToRs finalized by the opposition.

He however, said that the setting up a judicial commission was not the end in itself as the real objective was that all those plundering billions of the public money were brought in the dock for accountability and nobody could take undue advantage of his official position.

Sirajul Haq said that the state counsel had admitted in the Supreme Court that the Prime Minister had no record of his wealth.  He said there could not be a better proof of corruption that this statement, he added.

Sirajul Haq said the nation wanted across the board accountability without any discrimination. The nation, he said, wanted the courts to catch the big fish but the actual practice was that only the small fish were caught but the crocodiles were let off.

He asked why the court that could punish ex -Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, could not proceed against Nawaz Sharif?  “If the courts cannot decide such cases, what else they are for”? he asked, and added that the courts that failed to do justice to the people should better be closed.

He said that there was no difference of opinion in the opposition on the issue as all wanted accountability of the plunderers and the corrupt leadership.

He said if the Supreme Court set up a judicial commission and an enquiry was held in accordance with the Opposition’s ToRs, the whole thing would be crystal clear.

Sirajul Haq said the function of the court was to give a decision after hearing arguments and not to ask for the Parties opinion.  A thief would never admit his crime and the plunderers would never want accountability, he remarked. “They would like that this most important case of the country’s history was wound up after a few days protest and rallies on roads” he added.

The JI chief said there had been rallies and protests against the rulers during the last seventy years but there was no net result and the corrupt elements were still enjoying high official offices.

If only five to six thousand big criminals were jailed and their properties were confiscated, a new life would be infused in the nation, he said.
