Nation celebrates Defence Day today

Pakistan is celebrating 50th Defense Day today (Sunday) with national zeal and fervour to pay homage to martyrs who rendered supreme sacrifice in defence of the motherland.

Pakistan’s valiant armed forces and entire nation stood united to foil that extremely wicked intentions of the enemy who had dared cast an evil eye on the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country.

The day will dawn with special prayers in mosques for the progress and prosperity of the nation.

A tribute will be paid to the martyrs of 1965 war by observing one minute silence at 9.29 am. This will follow airing of national anthem by all broadcasting networks at 9.30 am.

Numerous functions will be held all across the country to mark the day. The civil society will actively take part in these programmes to highlight the strong commitment of the nation and the armed forces to defend the motherland in the face of aggression by India.

Main functions of the day will be held at General Headquarters Rawalpindi and Convention Centre in Islamabad to pay tribute to the martyrs of Pakistan.
