WASHINGTON: An unnamed SpaceX 9 Rocket of NASA exploded minutes just after launch earlier of Sunday morning.

According to a report, the Rocket was carrying a cargo meant to resupply the International Space Station.

The Falcon 9 exploded about 2 minutes 19 seconds after liftoff from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida, NASA confirmed Sunday.

The cause of the explosion was not immediately available, but Elon Musk, CEO of the SpaceX, said more information would be provided after review.

The rocket was carrying 4,000 pounds of equipment, supplies and science gear for astronauts in the space station, its primary mission was to make a third attempt to land the rocket’s first stage on off-shore remotely-operated barge.

Attempts in January and April to land the reusable Falcon 9 rocket on a landing pad ended in explosions when rockets hit the barge too hard.
