PESHAWAR: National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has arrested an Accountant Sub-Divisional Education Office (Female) Peshawar, Asghar Ali who was allegedly involved in corruption and embezzlement of funds meant for schools improvement, causing a huge loss to national exchequer.
A NAB press release said on Friday, the accused being Accountant / Cashier at Sub Divisional Education Office (Female) Peshawar in connivance with others incorporated personal account number instead of designated official account number of Parents Teachers Councils (PTCs) thereby directing official funds towards private account.
Besides this, the accused compelled various primary schools head teachers to give commission in official PTC funds and Conditional Grants, thereby compromising the quality of developmental works in schools. He also misguided the Accountant General Office as well as seniors by not providing exact data in the vendor forms.
