KARACHI: The Election Commission of Pakistan has ordered recount of votes polled in the in the NA-249 by-polls.
Accepting the PML-N candidate Miftah Ismail’s vote recount application, the chief election commissioner directed the returning officer to recount votes cast in the NA-249 by-polls.
He directed to all the candidates to reach the office of the returning officer on May 6 at 9am.
A four-member bench headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sikander Sultan Raja heard Mifath Ismail’s vote recount appeal during which PPP’s counsel Latif Khosa and PML-N’s Salman Akram Raja presented their arguments.
PML-N candidate Miftah Ismail, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Musaddiq Malik and Muhammad Zubair and PPP candidate Qadir Khan Mandokhel, Saeed Ghani, Nayar Hussain Bukhari and Farooq H Naek appeared before the ECP.
The counsel for PML-N, Salman Akram Raja told the commission that the Form-45 from 167 polling stations does not carry signatures of any polling agent.
