Supreme Court has restored Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) MNA Sultan Mahmood Hanjra’s membership of National Assembly on Friday.
A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali declared decision of election tribunal about the disqualification of Sultan Mehmood Hanjra null and void.
In 2013 general elections, Sultan Mahmood Hanjra was declared winner from NA 176 constituency. His victory notification was challenged by his opponent Ghulam Mustafa Khar in the elections tribunal.
Khar alleged Hanjra was not an eligible candidate as envisaged by Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution.
It is pertinent to mention here that, Hanjra challenged election tribunal’s notification which disqualified him from NA.
