Expectations of close contest between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N

It should be mentioned here that authorities decided to depute Pakistan Army inside and outside polling stations to ensure free, fair and transparent by-elections.

In the run up to elections, PTI and PML-N displayed their political strength with large public showings in the constituency.

PML-N’s Siddique Baloch and PTI’s Jahangir Tareen are two major contestants in the run for the seat among 20 others.

Baloch had won this seat in 2013 general elections as an independent candidate and later joined PML-N. He was de-seated by an election tribunal in August on a petition of Tareen who claimed rigging in polls.

They said a total of 303 polling stations have been set up in NA-154, of them 30 have been declared sensitive and six ‘highly sensitive’.

Around 419,000 voters will exercise their right to vote, with public holiday announced in the city on account of by-election.
