LAHORE: Election Tribunal on Tuesday dismissed a plea filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Abdul Aleem Khan against the election of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz’s (PML-N) Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in NA-122 by-election, saying supporting evidences were not enough to hear the petition.
Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on October 11, 2015; won a re-election in the constituency with a thin margin of 22 votes.
However PTI’s Aleem Khan alleged that votes were illegally transferred from the constituency as part of a electoral conspiracy against him.
Aleem Khan moved Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and filed an election complain preying the ECP to declare election of Ayaz Sadiq as null and void. The ECP formed an Election Tribunal to hear the case.
However today (Tuesday), the tribunal ruled that petition filed by Aleem Khan could not be hear. The petition was not supported by solid evidences, it said in a short order.
