Andy Murray set up a semi-final showdown with Roger Federer in the Cincinnati Masters after battling past Richard Gasquet.
Andy Murray’s bid for a third Cincinnati Masters title remains on course after the Scot came through another testing battle, beating Richard Gasquet 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 in the quarter-finals.
Having come through a marathon against Grigor Dimitrov, Murray had to contend with the heat and going a set down to Gasquet on centre court, but then pulled out a half-hour second set to get the crowd going.
Both players were wilting as the match crossed the two-hour mark, and a topsy-turvy final set saw Murray settle things on his serve, and he will face Roger Federer in the semi-finals.
Murray has now won more matches in 2015 then any other male player, 56, and with the US Open beginning on 31 August, he will be looking for a third Grand Slam title.
