BAHAWALPUR: The criminal convicted of murder was hanged on Thursday morning in New Central Jail, Bahawalpur, said jail authorities.
The convict had murdered Pir Zaheerul Hassan for religious extremism in 1997 in Kabirwala. The Multan court had ordered his death sentence in 2000.
The criminal had appealed from the president of Pakistan which was turned down. The jail authorities arranged last meeting with his family in the jail.
Security arrangements were made around the jail at the time of his hanging. Later, the jail authorities handed over the body to the heirs after medico-legal formalities.
