MULTAN: An election tribunal in Multan has ordered re-election in NA-162 of Sahiwal and disqualified Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member of National Assembly (MNA ) Rai Hasan Nawaz Khan after found guilty of hiding his assets from Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
The election tribunal on Tuesday (today) continued hearing of the petition and declared the PTI candidate disqualify from the seat.
The runner-up candidate on the seat Haji Mohammad Ayub Khan had challenged the PTI candidate’s victory in the election tribunal on charges of not declaring assets and concealing facts from the ECP.
Haji Ayub had accused that Rai Hasan Nawaz was a defaulter of millions of rupees and had concealed the fact when he was filing his nomination papers.
Hassan was declared victorious from the constituency in the 2013 general elections as candidate of the PTI. He had received 88,974 votes from the Sahiwal-III constituency in the 2013 polls.
Independent candidate Haji Muhammad Ayub Khan n, who was runner up with 75,756 votes in the election.
