KARACHI: Former MQM’s MNA Asif Hasnain left the party on Sunday to join Mustafa Kamal’s Pak Sarzameen Party and announced his decision to resign from his MNA seat.
Addressing a press conference at the PSP Secretariat in Karachi, Mustafa Kamal welcomed Asif Hasnain and stated that the latter had been elected from MQM’s platform from NA-255 constituency and had also been a member of the Rabita Committee. Kamal said that Asif Hasnain had rejected the mandate of MQM’s Altaf Hussain to join forces with PSP.
Mustafa Kamal further said that the match between MQM’s senior leader Farooq Sattar and party chief Altaf Hussain was fixed. Kamal further said that Farooq Sattar was trying unsuccessfully to save Altaf Hussian from his current predicament and for this reason, had indulged the whole nation into confusion. Kamal stated that he would not let this confusion persist.
Asif Hasnain also spoke on the occasion and chanted slogans in favour of Pakistan. He said that he could no longer listen to derogatory slogans regarding Pakistan and had hence decided to party ways with MQM. He also announced that he would resign from the NA-255 constituency that he had won from his former party’s platform.
Asif Hasnain said that he had decided to leave MQM because he wanted to work for Pakistan and not against it. He urged others to purge their fear and join the ranks of Mustafa Kamal’s Pak Sarzameen Party.
“Do not be afraid of any person. Support Mustafa Kamal and join Pak Sarzameen Party,” he said.
In response to a question, Asif Hasnain said that he was not fleeing from Pakistan but had decided to go to Islamabad since he had fallen sick after not getting sleep for two days and three nights. Hasnain said that he had decided to escape that predicament by going to Islamabad when Rangers officials took him into custody from the airport for questioning.
