KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) lawmakers on Wednesday finally submitted their handwritten resignations in Sindh Assembly and National Assembly.
The resignations in Sindh Assembly were submitted by MQM’s Khwaja Izharul Hasan while the National Assembly resignations were presented in the leadership of party’s parliamentary leader in NA, Dr Farooq Sattar.
The senators belonging to the party will resign soon in the leadership of senator Tahir Mashhadi.
NA Speaker accepts MQM resignations
National Assembly speaker Ayaz Sadiq verified the resignations and accepted them after asking every MNA either his/her resignation is voluntary or under some pressure.
After the verification, Speaker accepted the resignations and will now send it to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

Meanwhile, Sindh Assembly speaker Agha Siraj Durrani said that he will try to persuade the MQM legislators to take back their resignations.
Farooq Sattar’s speech in NA
At this moment, MQM MNA Dr Farooq Sattar maintained that the resignations were submitted in protest against MQM’s ‘witch hunting’ in the Karachi operation.
He claimed that his party is being pushed to the wall as Rangers raided the MQM headquarter twice to leave the impression that ‘criminals’ hide at Nine Zero.

The senior MQM leader was of the view that an unconstitutional ban has been imposed on party chief Altaf Hussain’s speeches adding that a large number of workers were extra-judicially killed during the on going operation.
“Rangers attitude in Karachi is partial”, claimed Sattar.
