KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Thursday taken out a protest rally against rangers raids in Karachi.
The rally led by senior MQM leaders Dr Farooq Sattar, Wasim AKhtar and others set out for Karachi’s Red Zone to lodge protest outside the Rangers Headquarters against raids on the houses of its polling agents, activists and workers.
A senior police official said the participants of the rally would not be allowed to enter the Red Zone as the party had not sought permission. He said they intend to block the rally in view of the Section 144 imposed in Karachi.
MQM leaders said the demonstration should not worry the authorities as it would be a peaceful event. The rally has caused a massive gridlock in different areas of the city, adding to the difficulties of the commuters heading back home from their workplaces.
